The Center for Black Brown and Queer Studies

The Center for Black, Brown, and Queer Studies (BBQ+) is a non-profit organization based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. With a staff of four, the organization focuses its efforts on creating a more inclusive and equitable educational environment. BBQ+ generates $2.5 million in annual revenue. BBQ+ focuses its programming on activating, connecting, and mobilizing communities of students, educators, researchers, and activists to dismantle structural barriers. The organization aims to achieve this through raising historical and cultural awareness around the intersections of race, gender, sexuality, socioeconomic status, citizenship status, and colonialism. BBQ+ is dedicated to addressing inequities within educational spaces to ensure full participation and leadership for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPoC), particularly LGBTQ+ BIPoC.
