Who is Resource Assistance for Rural Environments RARE AmeriCorps Program
Resource Assistance for Rural Environments (RARE) AmeriCorps Program is a non-profit organization based in Eugene, Oregon. The program employs 15 people and generates $2.5 million in annual revenue. RARE AmeriCorps Program focuses on empowering rural communities across Oregon to enhance their economic, social, and environmental well-being. The program places graduate-level members within these communities for a period of 11 months. These members work alongside residents and agencies to develop and implement plans aimed at achieving sustainable natural resource management and improving rural economic conditions. Members also gain valuable community building and leadership skills through their service. Since its inception in 1994, RARE AmeriCorps Program has placed over 500 members in every county within Oregon. The program is administered by the University of Oregon’s Institute for Policy Research and Engagement (IPRE), which connects the expertise of higher education with the needs of communities and regions across the state.
