PowerBridgeNY

PowerBridgeNY is a non-profit organization based in Brooklyn, New York, comprised of two separate proof-of-concept centers (POCCs). It has a staff of 2 employees and generates an annual revenue of $7 million. PowerBridgeNY supports clean technology innovation by providing funding and mentorship to teams developing technologies from six partner institutions: Columbia University, Brookhaven National Laboratory, Cornell Tech, Stony Brook University, New York University's Tandon School of Engineering, and the City University of New York. The organization offers grants of up to $150,000 to teams to conduct customer discovery interviews using the NSF I-Corps/Lean LaunchPad Methodology, develop prototypes, and conduct field testing. The goal of PowerBridgeNY is to accelerate the commercialization of these technologies, either through the formation of startups or through licensing agreements. The program provides ongoing support to teams through monthly check-ins, events, subsidized services, industry mentors, and pro bono legal, financial, and grant-writing consultations.
