Health and Human Development Division

Health and Human Development (HHD) is a division of Education Development Center, Inc., a global nonprofit organization based in Waltham, Massachusetts. The division employs 6 people and generates $2.5 million in annual revenue. HHD focuses on promoting healthy human development across the lifespan and globally, addressing a wide range of health issues. Their work spans health promotion, disease prevention, intervention, and care, encompassing areas like alcohol, tobacco, and drug use; HIV and sexually transmitted diseases; mental health; unintentional injuries; reproductive health; and nutrition and fitness. Recognizing the impact of socioeconomic and cultural factors on health, HHD also tackles challenges that make certain populations more vulnerable to illness, injury, or death. HHD strengthens organizations working on the frontlines of health by providing professional development, designing interventions, developing curricula, and conducting research and evaluation. They collaborate across sectors including education, public health, healthcare, social services, mental health, and criminal justice at local, state, national, and international levels.
