Georgia Museum of Art

The Georgia Museum of Art is a museum located in Athens, Georgia. As the official state museum of art, it is situated on the University of Georgia campus. The museum showcases works from its permanent collection as well as temporary exhibitions, often sourced from other institutions or created in-house. They offer a variety of educational programming, including guided tours, monthly family days, teen studios, film series, and lectures. Beyond exhibitions, the museum features four research centers, a library, a student internship program, and coursework, which provide opportunities for scholarship and research. Additionally, the Georgia Museum of Art hosts quarterly receptions, student nights, and DJ parties to blend social interaction with art appreciation. Their award-winning quarterly publication, Facet, is available for free at the museum, select Athens businesses, downtown Athens boxes, and is mailed directly to members.
