Centro Central New York Regional Transportation Authority

The Central New York Regional Transportation Authority (CNYRTA) is a publicly-funded transportation authority based in Syracuse, New York. Established in 1971 by the New York State legislature, the authority oversees public transportation services in four counties: Onondaga, Cayuga, Oswego, and Oneida. The CNYRTA operates through five subsidiary companies, including CNY Centro, Inc. in Syracuse, Centro of Cayuga, Inc. in Auburn, Centro of Oswego, Inc. in Oswego, Centro of Oneida, and Centro Call-A-Bus, Inc. CNYRTA's primary service offering is public transportation through its various subsidiary companies. These companies operate fixed-route bus services and a shared-ride paratransit service called Centro Call-A-Bus. The authority also operates the Regional Transportation Center in Syracuse. Funding for the CNYRTA comes from a combination of fares collected from riders and matching funds provided by county, state, and federal governments.
